Beyonce is widely known as an important pop star and an influential person among the world. She has strong ties the notions of feminism, speaks against racism and the importance of identity. For an artist’s nickname to be ”Queen Bee”, she most be doing something that draws people to her. Beyonce has emerged as a mature, artistic force for the public, but the fact that she also considered as a multi-faceted leader and investor, is just as significant as her music career (Ellen Mcgirt, Feb 13th 2017). With the creation of her album Lemonade, that alone has caused the public to evaluate the relevance behind Beyonce’s words and why she is still relevant.

Lemonade received critical acclaim for its cinematic structure and its significance to black feminism,(Ellen Mcgirt)which Beyonce has a strong connection too. The importance of race, feminism ad identity are all mentioned within her album and are a major aspect to Beyonce as a figure. This started when she appeared on stage in 2013 where she ”outed” herself as a feminist. She said that she didn’t like the word because ”people put so much on it” (Breeanna Hare, 12th December, 2014) She went on to  define a feminist as ”a person that believes in equality for men and women, and we have to get to a point where we are comfortable with appreciating each other” (Beyonce). She used her popularity to her advantage and pushed her agendas without having to resort to be a full-blown feminist stereotype. She also speaks for the black community throughout her work. Lemonade deepens this embrace of her blackness (Ellen Mcgirt) . She portrayed herself as an aggressive and destructive woman within her music videos, ending with her being arrested. This went against the way women were supposed to not express rage within society. The fact that she is a strong player within the music industry makes it very easy for her to express her views on society to the mass public.

Her popularity among the public also surfaces from her influence outside of the music industry and through her social media outputs, she has become more connected with her public. Since she as of now as over 113 million followers on Instagram, the feedback that she receives from her fans can be almost instant, and the same can be for reversed. She can very easily release a statement online where he multitude of followers can react and continue to share across the world. Beyonce’s connection with the media is a way for her to effectively connect with her fans and express her opinions on topics surrounding racism, feminism etc and these current topics continue to make her relevant to the world today.

I went about my blog on this topic in a similar way in promoting how her gift and role in the music industry has enhanced her ability to voice her opinions and bring upon change to the problems she see’s that humanity is facing. Something we both highlighted was if she’s also referred to as “Queen Bey” then she must be important for more then just raw talent. I really liked how you brought significance to Beyonce’s passion and selflessness in quoting her own definition on a feminist, displaying her power to change the way her following thinks about the issue. Great blog!

I went about my blog post on this topic in a similar what in promoting how her role in the music industry has enhanced her ability to voice her opinions and bring upon change to the problems she see’s that humanity is facing. Something you may want to consider is that when you discuss her how she portrayed herself in the music videos in her album Lemonade, continue with why she did this and how it relates to womens rage in society. Also I really liked how you highlighted some of her quotes though, displaying her passion and selflessness on the topics.
