Convergent Website
Journalism is a strong part of modern culture nowadays. Be it through papers, TV or personal knowledge, receiving news comes from a person’s ability to create and deliver a story through personal experience and clever crafting. With the use of the internet, Journalism is now easier to create and cheaper to produce than newspapers, coining the emergence of convergent Journalism. Convergent Journalism allows for news ways of seeing your news and more interesting and easier ways.
Media Convergence is defined as a form of cross-media co-operation, combing multiple different forms of media outlets and splicing them into a new creation for media news pushing, like broadcast, print, photography and internet sites. Even though newspapers are more world-wide and more accessible to the public all over the world, video media has a way of conveying news in a more interesting way. Various different YouTube videos have a way of getting people more interested in News by portraying current news issues in a more satirical and humorous way. People like Jimmy Kimmel grab people with the way he can discuss topics important and lecture people about how they are relevant, but always makes sure to make it entertainment as well to get people interested. Normal News outlets wouldn’t try to do that as the lack of personal interaction would not allow the viewers to pick up on the sarcasm or they try to take the more serious stuff and keep it that way.
Convergent journalism can be difficult for other already existing journalists to adapt to due to having to more experience and skilled in more than one discipline. For example, a a convergence journalism can write an article for a newspaper and produce a broadcast package on the same story all in one day. When a new form of journalism is introduced, it means that fresh new people can come in without having to relearn anything, but it makes it harder for veterans. Much like the world however, the art of journalism evolved to take more advantages of what the world is like moving around it. For example, there was a time in the early when internet was introduced and the printing press offered to combine with them to share news, but it looked and acted exactly the same as if it were just one a paper. By the 2000s, papers had declined massively and the internet overtook a majority of news outlets. Publications started to use the online format more, helping their growth and leading to faster more accessible news articles. Newspapers started to thrive again through online support and followers.
Researching what makes convergent journalism effective all comes down to the improvement from the original idea of journalism and how it evolved overtime. Though physical news media outlets still exist in the world and have an importance in countries without internet, online news have become a lot more popular and relevant in the world today through its quick and effective of delivering media in a new way.
